How to be efficient during family photos

Wedding Planning Advice

Pre Planning

  1. Leading up to the wedding, it’s a great idea to create a detailed list of the loved ones you want in your photos! When you share this list with your photographer, be sure to include specific names instead of just titles like “mom” or “sister of the bride.” This helps everyone feel special and included in the moment!
  2. Talk with your partner about whether you want to schedule a first look and take wedding party photos then or after the ceremony. If time permits, capturing those photos right after the first look can streamline family formals and give you more free time to enjoy the cocktail hour. It’s a great way to maximize your celebration and create beautiful memories together!

Wedding Day

t’s always helpful to have a family member or second photographer on hand to assist in staging the next group of family members while the first photographer is actively shooting. This support can make the process smoother and less stressful for everyone involved.Begin by organizing the photography session around the largest family groups first, ensuring that all members are present for the photo. Once the largest groups have been photographed, shift the focus to immediate family members, capturing a separate image with them before inviting partners or additional guests into the frame. After each group or individual has been photographed, kindly send them off to socialize and mingle with the rest of the attendees to keep the atmosphere lively and engagement flowing among the guests.
